Weapons seized Dublin
As The IRA leadership under
the command of Colin Duffy try to take back control of the Real IRA in Dublin,
several former members of The REAL IRA who had been led by Alan Ryan, have
turned informer, leading to the seizure of large amounts of weapons that have remained
undiscovered for over a decade.
The discovery of a cache of
guns and ammunition found in the ‘common area’ in a south-inner city flat
complex has been linked to dissident republicans and is the latest find in the space of a couple of weeks.
Last weekend, Gardai
discovered three rifles, one revolver and some 200-300 rounds of assorted
ammunition during a search of the Marrowbone Lane flat complex.
Nobody was arrested at the
scene, but it is believed the guns and ammo had been stored by dissident
republicans.
A source said that gardai believe
the guns may have been moved to the location because of the infighting within
the so-called New IRA.
Last month, New IRA guns,
ammo and 15kg of Semtex explosive were found in Cloghran, north Dublin.
