Belfast Shooting
Dissident hit target Harry
'O' McMahon remains in a coma in hospital after being shot through the eye
socket, in Belfast.
A man with two young kids
watched as the hitman calmly and callously shot the close associate of Action Against
Drugs chief Roy McAuley.
A feud between warring
dissident factions is what is thought to be behind the murder attempt at the
fast food restaurant on the Oldpark Road.
The hit had all the
hallmarks of the INLA assassination of CIRA man Tommy Crossan last year.
Police have since launched a
fresh appeal to the public for information on the attack.
Detective Chief Inspector
Gary Reid said: "We believe that one man was involved in the shooting.
"He made off in a blue
coloured Vauxhall Astra estate car, vehicle registration number ANZ 5590, which
was found on fire in Torrens Gardens less than a mile away, a few minutes
later. The car may have broken down and may been pushed off the road.
"We are particularly
keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the Oldpark Road area around 5.35pm
last Friday and who may have witnessed the shooting or any suspicious activity
prior to it."
He added: "We are also
keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the Torrens Gardens area when the
vehicle was set alight."
